Volunteer Opportunities:

We are always looking for a helpful hero! All of our events need workers for various tasks such as staffing tables and collecting money. If you have 30 minutes or 3 hours—your time will be greatly appreciated!

Adopt a Reader
Read with one or two students on a weekly basis using the READ NATURALLY program. Training is provided. You can make a big difference in a child's oral reading fluency by offering this consistant extra practice. It is also very rewarding seeing your adopted reader's skills grow.

Art Docent
This very special program reaches out into each and every classroom at Audubon to provide our children with art enrichment. Volunteers will work with one classroom throughout the year and provide regular art experiences for that class. Not artistic? No worries! No particular artistic ability or knowledge is necessary! Art Docents meet periodically as a group for training and support. Reference materials and resources are provided.

Grant Writing
Help Audubon PTSA find new ways to increase its funds! There is money available to non-profit organizations in the form of grants. We're looking for a person or persons who would like to research and/or write grants. Contribute from home, at your own pace, in your own way! There's no experience necessary, although Lake Washington School District offers a very helpful grant writing seminar.

Holiday Helping Hands
Help with this holiday outreach program designed to reach those most in need in our own community during the holiday season. Help coordinate giving with local school counselors and non-profit organizations. Make giving mittens, create and distribute flyers and help sign mittens out to students, parents and teachers. Volunteers also collect gifts, or help with sorting, wrapping, or delivery. There's a place for you here, whatever you may have to offer! This is a short-term project taking place in late November and early December. Warm yourself from the inside out—this event makes you feel so good!

International Fair
Audubon's diverse international community makes this the perfect place to host this
amazing event! Volunteers can be involved with organizing the larger event, or can jump right in with an interactive display of their own culture. Everyone is encouraged to get involved—parents, students and teachers! Team up with a friend to teach a craft, demonstrate a dance, show costumes and artifacts, or tell a story. International Fair is held in the spring. Don't miss this opportunity to share your culture!

International Games Night
This unique family night is an opportunity to share your favorite games to other Audubon families. Whether its an ancient strategy game like Go, Mancala, or Chess, or the latest craze like Apples to Apples, bring it to school to play with others.

Volunteers are needed to help set up tables and assist in clean up.

Children from Audubon Elementary have gone on to win State honors in this competition! Volunteers are needed to organize and oversee this program. Still more are needed to assist with publicity, art workshops, judging, awards and much more! Training is provided by the LWSD PTSA Council.

School Dance
Join us for a rockin' good time at this spring family event! Bring the whole family to enjoy great music, dancing, games and food! It takes plenty of volunteers to make this event happen—and there are a wide variety of tasks from which to choose. Volunteers are needed for planning and organization, publicity, working with vendors for food and music, ticket sales at the door, organizing volunteers, serving food, taking photos and much more.
