Volunteer
Volunteer Opportunities: We are always looking for a helpful hero! All of our events need workers for various tasks such as staffing tables and collecting money. If you have 30 minutes or 3 hours—your time will be greatly appreciated!
Skate KingHelp coordinate these two fun and easy events! This is a great way to jump in and get your feet wet. Audubon holds two Skate King nights each year--one in October and one in March. One chairperson and 2-4 additional volunteers are all it takes to have a great event. Coordinate volunteers, publicize and manage the admission booth. Contact: Judy East International Walk To School DayShare your healthy habits! Encourage and assist Audubon families in choosing healthy and safe pedestrian activities around our neighborhoods. Work with the Audubon staff and City of Redmond to coordinate various promotions and activities for Walk & Bike to School Day. Spaghetti/Bingo NightThis wildly popular family night needs you! A team of volunteers organize food, tickets, prizes, bingo supplies, volunteers, publicity and more! Still more volunteers are needed to help with set-up and take-down, sell tickets, serve food and work the prize table. Parents and staff have traditionally worked side by side to make this an incredibly festive and fun event! Spaghetti/Bingo Night will be held in mid-October. Jump right in and prepare for some serious fun! Holiday Helping HandsHelp with this holiday outreach program designed to reach those most in need in our own community during the holiday season. Help coordinate giving with local school counselors and non-profit organizations. Make giving mittens, create and distribute flyers and help sign mittens out to students, parents and teachers. Volunteers also collect gifts, or help with sorting, wrapping, or delivery. There's a place for you here, whatever you may have to offer! This is a short-term project taking place in late November and early December. Warm yourself from the inside out—this event makes you feel so good! Ice Cream SocialThis is a fun and fast event following Student Share Night. A great way to jump in and help if you have a limited amount of time to share! Come lend a hand scooping ice cream and handing out sundae toppings the night of the event, or help organize, pick up supplies, set up or clean up. Spring Dance (Sock Hop)Join us for a rockin' good time at this spring family event! Dress up and bring the whole family to enjoy great music, dancing, games and food! It takes plenty of volunteers to make this event happen—and there are a wide variety of tasks to choose from. Volunteers are needed for planning and organization, publicity, working with vendors for food and music, ticket sales at the door, organizing volunteers, serving food, taking photos and much more. International FairAudubon's diverse international community makes this the perfect place to host this amazing event! Volunteers can be involved with organizing the larger event, or can jump right in with an interactive display of their own culture. Everyone is encouraged to get involved—parents, students and teachers! Team up with a friend to teach a craft, demonstrate a dance, show costumes and artifacts, or tell a story. International Fair is held in the spring. Don't miss this opportunity to share your culture! Art DocentThis very special program reaches out into each and every classroom at Audubon to provide our children with art enrichment. Volunteers will work with one classroom throughout the year and provide regular art experiences for that class. Not artistic? No worries! No particular artistic ability or knowledge is necessary! Art Docents meet periodically as a group for training and support. Reference materials and resources are provided. Contact: Martha Rames or Maxine Pippin Grant WritingHelp Audubon PTSA find new ways to increase its funds! There is money available to non-profit organizations in the form of grants. We're looking for a person or persons who would like to research and/or write grants. Contribute from home, at your own pace, in your own way! There's no experience necessary, although Lake Washington School District offers a very helpful grant writing seminar. Contact: Katy TallorinReflections
The Reflections Program is a National PTA and Washington State PTA cultural arts competition. The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works. Children from Audubon Elementary have gone on to win State honors in this competition! Volunteers are needed to organize and oversee this program. Still more are needed to assist with publicity, art workshops, judging, awards and much more! Training is provided by the LWSD PTSA Council. Contact: Victoria Clarke
