PTSA General Meeting: Friday, February 10th, 8:30-9:30am
Join us in the cafeteria right after the bell rings for our 3rd PTSA meeting of the school year. We'll be electing our Nominating Committee and hearing a special report on Audubon's Continuous Improvement Plan from Principal Karen Dickens. Did you miss the Parent Information night at Rose Hill Middle School last week? We will share the information provided at this meeting and answer question you may have about the upcoming transitions for the 2012-13 school year.

Math Challenge 9 is now online!
KenKen puzzles - Math challenge #9 is all about KenKen−a type of math and logic puzzle invented by a Japanese math teacher, Tetsuya Miyamoto. KenKen comes from the Japanese word for cleverness. Try this fun challenge and turn in your answers by February 9, no later than 3 p.m. Everyone who submits the required solutions will receive a Valentine duck. Good luck!

Congratulations to the 65 students who complete Math Challenge 8!
The four winners of the puzzle-cube erasers chosen at random are:

Alex Zhang in Mrs. Jensen's 1st grade
Elliott Tai in Mrs. Jensen's 1st grade
Ishika Kaushik in Mrs. Wilhelm's 3rd grade
Shira Feinberg in Mr. Strunk's 5th grade

The Science Fair is coming up on February 23rd
and we still could use more parent volunteers to help us get ready: photographing students with their boards and creating award certificates. The night of the fair we need observers to talk with the students and make positive observations about their projects. To help, please sign up online

Audubon PTSA Membership - We are *ALMOST* there! We need just 4 more memberships to get the Platinum Award from the Washington State PTA! Who is going to get us there???

Also, check out the Owl (just down the hall from the office) to find your name and see the other awards we have received this year.

Save the date! Family night at skate king will be on February 15th from 6-8pm.

Rose Hill Middle School Transitions
Beginning this fall, students graduating from Audubon will be attending Rose Hill Middle School. Rose Hill Principal, Dr. Laurynn Evans, and her staff hosted an information night at Rose Hill this past week. There is a lot of information available on their website. Select "Registration" to find out more about course offerings and academic content for students. Information about the new building and construction are found in the "Modernization FAQ" under the "About Us" link. Subscribe to the Weekly Parent Bulletin that comes by email every Monday morning to get an idea of what student life is like at Rose Hill.

BOUNCE UP YOUR MATH KANGAROO SKILLS!

What is Math Kangaroo?

Math Kangaroo is a mathematical competition with the flavor of a game—introducing participants to math challenges in a fun and inspiring way. This competition boosts students’ math enthusiasm and self-confidence by measuring what they know rather than judging them in a team situation. More than 40 countries participate in this event that measures logical reasoning and analytical thinking.

The actual contest will be held on March 15, 2012. Deadline to register is December 31, 2011 or when centers are full. Participation fee is $20 (paid directly online on the registration page listed below). More information can be found here.

Click here to register for the competition.

++++++++Our Audubon front office needs your help.++++++++
The front office health room needs help at lunch time to provide ice & Band-Aids for students. Any time between 12-1 would make a big difference. A brief training will be provided. Even if it is only 30 minutes once a month, you can make a difference for students and staff. Please contact Kathy Weiss in the office for more information.
