Year-end thanks...

Gratitude and thanks from VP Kym Lukosky for her Chairs under Student Services for 2009-2010!  You guys made it an excellent year!

Many many thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who worked on Student Services committees this year!  We could not do it without you!  Thanks for a wonderful 2009-2010 school year!

Deborah East:  Thank you so much for being the Chair and Advisor for the Yearbook Committee and Student Pictures again this year!   The fact that you took this big program to the kids and got them involved just says a lot about the type of person you are!    I know that the kids had a wonderful experience with it and we appreciate all you have done!  Thank you!

Charla Mills and Julie Becker:   I want to thank you both for stepping in mid year to chair the Staff Appreciation Committee!   Wow!  What a great job.   You even took on Staff Appreciation Week with great aplomb.  It means so much to us parents that you guys coordinate our gratitude and thanks with the monthly lunch and the gratitude week.    Thank you so much for your leadership!   I appreciate it!    And many and mucho thanks to Steph Weeks and Tajee Pugh who did a fabulous job organizing Staff Appreciation and doing the program most of the year!   Good luck to both of you in your new communities!   We’ll miss you!

Roy Captian:  Thank you for your leadership doing the Morning Driveway Valet Program in the morning!  You really have improved the process these last two years and as a parent who drives and has done the Valet job herself and knows how difficult it can be…  THANK YOU.   So appreciate you!

Ariel Sobelman: Thank you for being the Chairperson for Audubon Emergency Prep this year.   It’s so good to know that if something would happen, because of you and your committee our children would have food and water and basic supplies in the event of an emergency!   Thank you to you and your team!

Beth Kopyar:  Thank you so much for being my Co-Chair for Hearing and Vision the last couple years!  You have been awesome to work with and I greatly appreciate you sharing your Audiology expertise with Audubon.    Thank you in advance for chairing it next year!    You rock!

...and throughout the year

Read Across America

Read Across America Week was a great success!  Thanks to the many parents who volunteered to help spread the joy of reading by volunteering their time to cover doors and help at the book exchange:

Katy Tallorin, Judy Powell, Mindy Lincicome, Lisa Collier, Julie Becker, Jodi Becker, Beth Benincasa, Alisa Reebes, Cynthia Shimabuku, Bernadita Salas, Molly Pachikara, Debbie Bernstein, Sumei Li and Sonya Narayan

Staff Appreciation

One of the hardest things we have to do is say good bye to friends. Tajee Pugh and Steph Weeks, our Staff Appreciation Committee Chair people, in a crazy-at-the-same-timing fluke, have decided to move out of the Audubon neighborhood and thus are leaving our school! We  thank Tajee and Stephanie for doing such a superb job chairing Staff Appreciation this year! This is a huge loss for our committee and for our community as a whole. Audubon will be hard-pressed to replace these dedicated, committed and creative volunteers.  Steph and Tajee, thank you so much for everything and we wish you both all the best.

Being a dedicated community to teacher gratitude, Audubon has two wonderful moms, Julie Becker and Charla Mills, who have graciously stepped up to co-chair the staff appreciation committee. Thank you both so much!

Best wishes and our thanks to Tajee and Steph, and a warm welcome to Charla and Julie.

Read Naturally

This is the third year that two volunteers from the community come to school once a week, almost every week, to help with the Read Naturally program.  Andi Main brings her dog Carter to read and do flash cards with the kids, and Maryrose Hennebry does the Phonics for Reading program with third graders and also does Read Naturally with several kids.  This year she works with two third graders from 3:00-4:00 which is so great as they don’t miss any school. Toni feels so fortunate to have Andi and Maryrose who take an interest in our school and in our kids.

Staff Appreciation

Each month these volunteers work hard to put together something yummy for our staff members to enjoy. Tajee and Steph appreciate their willingness to take the time to bake/cook/donate - and you know that the staff appreciates and enjoys their treats as well.

Bunch of thanks to Sarah Davis, the Book Fair event chair and her helpers for the long hard work.

Hearing and Vision
